The common person versus the credit goliath
Interesting video about the history of the credit industry:
It’s a sad world when a mother has to experience the loss of a child. It’s an even sadder world when that child had a Sprint account.
Sharon G. lost her son in a serious car accident back in 2004, and her daughter was seriously maimed. Soon after, Sprint began calling her house asking for payment. She asked them to stop, but they continued their onslaught for over two years. At one point they even asked, “Is your son back yet?”
Sprint harasses mother of dead child
Sprint is a company without a conscience, and I have personally experienced their corporate villainry. Someone opened a Sprint account in my name back in 2001, and I had to deal with their unyielding debt practices. They sold the account to various debt collectors, and it got to the point where I had to sue. After suing and settling for some cash and deletion off my credit reports, they sold the account to yet another debt collector in violation of our original agreement!
Sprint is scum, and they recently renamed themselves “Embarq” in my area to try to shed some of the negative connotations their name was carrying. Sprint will soon headline a new section of the site I plan to create for companies NOT to do business with.
We moved recently and sent out change of address requests to all of our creditors so we would receive our statements at our new address. Mail is the only way to preserve your rights, as phone correspondence is not covered by the Fair Credit Billing act.

We received statements at our new address from all companies but Target, and when we called up to ask why they said we were already 30 days late and that late fees had already been administered. I immediately disputed with Target, and after a month and a half they sent the attached condescending letter. Essentially, they sided with us, but with “stipulations”. Instead of agreeing that they had violated the FCB, they instead acted like they were doing us a favor in removing the late charges and marks from the credit reports.
“…No future requests for credit of a late fee will be granted until after October 27th, 2007″. Gee, to Target complying with the law must mean only doing so once a year!
This blog is largely inspired by the works of one individual who has dedicated her life to fighting the corrupt villainry within corporate America, including the “big three” credit agencies, credit card companies, and mortgage lenders.
Her name is Christine Baker, and one of her many sites is at the following address:
